Skin Needling with PRP

Dermapen with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a non-invasive treatment that restores and rejuvenates the skin by reducing wrinkles and fine lines, stimulating collagen production, tightening and improving elasticity, shrinking enlarged pores, minimising scarring, and repairing pigmentation, sun damaged and ageing skin.

Dermapen with PRP is a two-step treatment. PRP works by drawing and processing a small amount of your own blood to extract the platelet rich component, which delivers growth factors that stimulate the body’s healing response, boosting collagen and rejuvenating skin. This component is then applied to your skin like a serum.

The Dermapen™ then works to needle the solution into your skin. It works by penetrating the top layer of skin with micro-needles that create tiny channels in the deeper layers. This then triggers the body’s natural wound healing response, stimulating new collagen and elastin formation.

Dermapen™ with PRP is used to treat the face, neck and décolletage.

Results build gradually with optimum results visible after three months. Regular treatments will maintain the best results.

  • Avoid tanning and prolonged sun exposure for at least two weeks
  • Avoid cosmetic injections, chemical peels, laser, microdermabrasion, and abrasive facials and exfoliants for one week
  • Cease blood thinners, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (e.g. aspirin, ibuprofen, Voltaren, Celebrex, Mobic), omega-oils, multivitamins, vitamin B, vitamin E and glucosamine for two weeks to minimise the risk of bruising
  • Cease taking oral corticosteroids (e.g. prednisone) for two weeks
  • Cease any topical medications and high strength cosmeceuticals containing vitamin A, retinol and glycolic acid for one week
  • On the day of treatment, drink at least one litre of water and refrain from excessive exercise to assist with blood collection
  • Men are to be clean shaven prior to treatment

Note: do not cease prescribed medications without first consulting with your general practitioner.

Prior to your first treatment, our clinician will consult with you to assess your suitability for Dermapen™ with PRP and discuss any concerns or questions you may have.

The treatment begins with PRP. Your clinician will draw a small amount of blood, which is then processed to separate the components. The platelet rich plasma component is then administered to the treatment area topically.

Your clinician will then carry out the Dermapen™ treatment by making small punctures to the outermost layers of your skin with the Dermapen™.

A numbing agent will be applied to minimise discomfort throughout both treatments.
