PRP and microneedling – a winning combination

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) and microneedling are two of our most requested treatments at Artisan. This is because of their ability to totally rejuvenate the skin with little to no pain and downtime. But did you know you can actually combine them to create an even more powerful result?

How they work

PRP and microneedling are two very different treatments. PRP is actually a form of cosmetic injectable. It involves drawing a small sample of your blood, which is then spun in a centrifuge for approximately five minutes to separate the plasma from the other blood particles. The platelet rich plasma (PRP) is then reinjected back into the treatment area to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Microneedling or skin needling meanwhile doesn’t involve injecting a product into your skin. It works by penetrating the top layers of your skin with micro-needles that create pin-point injuries in the deeper layers. This triggers the body’s natural healing response, stimulating new collagen and elastin formation.

Where they treat

PRP and microneedling are both used to treat the face, neck, décolletage and hands. PRP in particular is extremely effective for difficult to treat areas, such as the delicate under eye area where clients often notice signs of ageing first but where no laser can be used.

Results

PRP and microneedling deliver very similar results including:

  • Reducing wrinkles and fine lines
  • Tightening and improving elasticity
  • Shrinking pores
  • Boosting collagen
  • Improving the appearance of scars

Downtime

There are one to two days downtime involved with this treatment combination but the long-term results make it worthwhile. Our clinicians will consult with you to determine the best course of treatment to get maximum benefit.
